Art at Christ Church
At Christ Church Primary School we believe that teaching and learning in Art is not just important, but a vital part of a child’s education. It helps to stimulate creativity, imagination and inventiveness. Art education gives the children skills, concepts and knowledge and involves exploring the properties of materials and their textures, experimenting with different effects, and having the freedom to create. At Christ Church we don’t focus on the outcome in Art and instead focus on the key skills that the children have learned during the course of a unit that helps to build upon their knowledge and raises their confidence and shows the process and journey that they have been on.
Throughout the year we are focussed on building upon our previous knowledge. We work on many art projects throughout the year including working with the TATE schools project which results in a whole school exhibition where everyone and everything is celebrated. During the national lockdown we still worked hard to complete quality pieces of artwork using multiple medias for our whole school art project.
